Abstract:

Intestinal helminthic infections are serious health problems because of complications such as iron-deficiency anaemia, growth retardation in children and other physical and mental health problems. The incidence of helminthic infection has been linked with several factors such as poverty and poor levels of hygiene and sanitation. This study was carried out to determine the relationship between living conditions and helminth infection in children. The prevalence and outcome of gastrointestinal helminth infection was studied among 100 children aged 0 – 12 years of Rumuekini community, Obio-Akpor area of Rivers State, Nigeria. A total of 100 samples were collected from children living in both informal and formal housing accommodations. Examination of stool and blood samples revealed presence of intestinal helminths in 15 children (15%), with a higher prevalence (11%) in children living in informal housing..............

Abstract:

The physico-chemical and microbiological assessment of brands of Ringer's lactate infusion fluids produced by Nigerian pharmaceutical companies were investigated. Membrane filtration technique was used to carry out sterility testing using fluid thioglycollate and soya casein digest as media to support the growth of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria respectively. The Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay was used to check for the presence of bacterial endotoxin and to determine its concentration in the different brands tested. All the brands analysed complied with the physical assessment tests as their labels stated the batch number, manufacturer's number, expiration date as well as NAFDAC number. From the physico-chemical analysis, the pH of all brands werewithin the acceptable limit (6 - 7.5)stated by the United States Pharmacopeia. In addition, all brands contained electrolytes such as sodium...........

International Journal of Pharmaceutical Research and Applications, Volume 5, Issue 1 (Jan-Feb) 2020), PP.12-16
Abstract:

Anti-oxidant, Anti-inflammatory activity of Nervace tablet was evaluated using various research technologies. Tablets were even analysed for Total Phenolic and Total flavonoid content. Total Phenolic content was found to be in the range of 10mg -12mg per tablet. Nervace Tablets was found to be completely safe upto 5000mg/kg of body weight. It showed very good antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 509.52 mcg/ml. It significantly inhibited albumin denaturation showing promising results for the management of Inflammation and arthritis. Thus Nervace tablets can be used safely in the treatment of Inflammation and arthritis.

Abstract:

Ultra-fast laser technology and spectroscopy involves the use of femtosecond laser and other sources to study the properties of matter. The extremely short pulse duration allows one to create, detect and study very short-lived transient chemical reaction intermediates and transition states. Ultrafast laserscan also be used to produce laser pulses with enormous peak powers and peak densities. Ultra-fast laser spectroscopy is a spectroscopic technique that uses ultra-short pulse lasers for the study of dynamics on extremely short time scales (attoseconds to nanoseconds) .The unique characteristics of ultrafast lasers, such as picoseconds and femtosecond lasers, have opened up new avenues in materials processing that employ ultra-short pulse widths and extremely high peak intensities. Thus, ultra-lasers are currently..........

Abstract:

Conventional drug delivery systems are designed based on homeostatic theory, which assumes that all biological functions are in a constant state over time. In later logical discoveries, it was accepted that the idea of body homeostatic balance is never again evident. Consequently, researchers consider employing the concept of circadian rhyme in developing a new approach for drug delivery (chronotherapeutics) that will bring about new treatment modalities (Chronotherapy). Until this point, no drug delivery system can fulfill all the prerequisites of chronotherapeutics along these lines, However, further studies are still needed to diversify its applications to chemoprevention of diseases, potentiate maker guided chronotheranostics and vaccination..........
